And all this would not make sense without a gender perspective, which, thanks to the solid base provided by our equality plan and the awareness-raising, sensitisation and training work carried out, gender equality is becoming a reality. For Elmubas Petfoodgroup, its employees are its most important asset.
Elmubas Petfoodgroup committed to sustainable development
AENOR ZERO WASTE certification
Obtaining the AENOR Zero Waste certification with a recovery rate of 99.83% demonstrates our commitment to the Circular Economy by ensuring waste is managed, minimised and recovered properly.
Reducing our carbon footprint
Aware of the threat posed by climate change and the depletion of natural resources, we are working to reduce our carbon footprint. During 2022, we have identified the impact points of our company in order to take compensatory measures and we are committed to contracting renewable-green energy.
Recycling
As part of the plastics campaign, we are currently using 50-80% recycled material in our secondary packaging materials and our target is to reach 100% by the end of 2022. We already have recyclable packaging alternatives for our customers and we are working to be able to offer packaging with recycled material Food Contact.
Circular Economy
Furthermore, the basis for the development and manufacture of our products is based on the principles of the circular economy. We collaborate with different companies in the food sector in the reuse of surpluses generated by their activity, closing the production cycle and contributing to zero waste. The latest has been the BioPRO R&D project. A project to obtain a new process within the bioeconomy. A platform that for the first time integrates bioconversion stages (using fungi and insects) with biorefinery to obtain extracts of interest, with both nutritional and technological functionalities, and their incorporation into new products for human and animal food.
SDGs Diagnostic Tool
Another collaborative project to be highlighted in 2022 is the one carried out, together with the Basque Food Cluster and several companies in the food sector, in the development of a telematic tool for diagnosing SDGs for companies in the food sector.
