Today we’d like to talk to you about how important it is for your cat to stay at its ideal body weight. Overweight cats live shorter and less healthy lives. As well as struggling with heat or tiring more easily, their mobility is reduced and becomes difficult.
Diabetes, orthopaedic disorders, some skin conditions and urinary tract diseases
are linked to and worsened by excess weight in cats. Also, an overweight cat has higher anaesthetic risks and complicates some clinical or surgical procedures.
That’s why, whatever your cat’s ideal weight may be, it’s important that you help them maintain it. If anything changes, speak to your vet and adjust food portions to suit your cat’s needs.
